Nellie and Joe hosted their wedding reception at the Lightner Museum this past November. The Fall weather paired perfectly with Nellie’s vintage modern wedding theme, and added to the romantic ambiance. From the canopy of twinkling lights, to the stylish modern furniture, and long, family-style banquet seating, we just cannot get enough! Our heads are still spinning over the incredible transformation of our historic space for their big day!
Joe and Nellie were able to spend a few private moments in the Central Courtyard before joining their bridal party for photos on the Outdoor Terrace.
PRI Productions perfectly blended modern and vintage touches in the Lightner Museum Historic Pool and Mezzanine for the wedding reception. Clean white lanterns were hung above long rectangular family-style tables adorned with low white floral arrangements.
The entrance to the Mezzanine was flanked by two modern greenery walls, which served as backdrops for lighted place card tables.
The bride’s mother, Mrs. Howard, owns a home design store, and helped add her stylish touch to the vintage, modern wedding decor in the Historic Pool.
As guests looked on from above, Nellie and Joe started off the reception with a beautifully choreographed first dance.
After a delicious dinner, catered by the Casa Monica Hotel, it was time for speeches and cake. Check out that lovely confection crafted by Classic Cakes!
Then it was time to get out on the dance floor. With help from DJ Jacob Towe, the party was popping at this November wedding!
Nellie and Joe shared a private last dance to soak in their big day before heading out for a sparkler exit from the Terrace!
Q&A WITH NELLIE, THE BEAUTIFUL BRIDE
1. How did you and Joe meet? How did he propose?
We actually met many years ago through my brother but we did not “connect” until bumping into each other 3 years ago at the Lemon Bar in Jacksonville. He proposed in Savannah before taking me to an Elton John concert. I lived in Savannah for college and it’s always been a very special place for me.
2. What was your vision for your big day? Where did you find inspiration?
My mom mostly did all the planning! Once we picked the Lightner, we wanted a slightly antiqued/vintage theme and my dress by Lazaro bridal coordinated with it perfectly. But we had sort of a modern lounge set up downstairs, so it was kind of a perfect blend of both worlds.
3. What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?
Walking down the aisle. All the nerves were crazy right before and it’s just sort of an out of body, super surreal moment.
4. Do you have any advice for future brides and grooms?
Try not to stress! It all comes together and the stuff that does get messed up (something always does) makes for a funny story later on, even though it seems like a big deal at the time. But hire a good planner!!! Dawn from the Wedding Authority handled everything beautifully and made everything so much easier on us.
